FAQs

Do you tutor SEN  (e.g ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia) students?

I often tutor students with learning difficulties, such as autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD, as these are frequently the students that, despite being fantastically intelligent and creative, are struggling in certain areas at school and require individual support. This is usually in subjects like creative writing, comprehension, spelling and punctuation. We work on adapting the class to suit their learning style and focus on rebuilding their confidence, which is often low due to feeling like they’re underperforming in a traditional classroom setting.

Is online tutoring right for my child?

I moved to online tutoring during the pandemic—and I was more surprised than anyone to find that it actually made my teaching better. Not only did I notice faster progress in my students, but I also found that online lessons offered some unexpected advantages that really support learning. First, there's the consistency and flexibility. Because sessions can be done from anywhere, we don’t need to cancel lessons for holidays or travel. Second, it allows us to move through material more efficiently: I can switch topics in real time, pull up relevant worksheets on the spot, and adapt to what a student needs in the moment. This is particularly helpful for highly academic students who like to move quickly—I'm not limited to whatever workbooks or exam papers I have with me on the day. Lastly, I’m able to give better feedback and more tailored homework. Without the time lost to travel, I can sit down properly after lessons to reflect, write more detailed reports, and set tasks that target the exact areas that came up in class. It makes the whole process feel more intentional—and more personal.
